How do you stay organized?
Submitted by devillibrarian.
I don't. I'm the messiest thing on the face of the Earth.
What did you do as a child that you feel guilty about even to this day?
I used to throw away my milk. That may not sound like a big deal, but under the circumstances we lived in, it was.
See, Cuba's system of... everything, is quite different. You can't just go to a store and buy a gallon of milk, the number one reason being that products are just not available. Instead, each family gets a small checkbook/notebook which you take to the store and depending on how many people live in your family, you get a certain amount of food products. This goes for everything, from rice to eggs to bread. There's also markets in which people oversell such products as well as onions, bananas, meat, and sometimes even live animals. Milk has a special case: children are allowed to "get" milk up until they're 7 years old. After that, I guess they don't need milk anymore and parents struggle to give their kids something substantial for breakfast.
My grandmother, who lives in a small, almost farm-like town about 45 minutes away from where we lived, would always go out of her way to find milk for me. She would buy it from the farmers who milked their cows, or from people whose children were young enough to receive milk, but didn't like it. Not only that, but she would also find or make something to mix my milk with, which was usually guava marmalade or something sweet since I was/am a picky eater and did not like milk. She would then boil it and sometimes freeze it, find someone who would be going to where we lived, and ask them to bring it to me. Sometimes my parents and I would go visit her for the weekend, and would bring it on our way back.
Come Monday, time for breakfast, and you know what I did?
I poured it down the drain.
That's right. All of the hard work, hard money paid for that milk, went quite literally down the drain. I didn't understand why I had to be forced to drink milk when i just didn't like it. My parents would tell me time and again how lucky I was to have milk at all, but I just couldn't see why I had to drink it. The more they pushed it, the more I hated it, and I poured it down the drain every day. I would also throw it out the window, which eventually led to a big stain down the building wall, and consequently, a neighbor from the next building to question my mother about it. That day my mom asked me very casually what had happened to my breakfast and I, being the good little liar I was, pointed casually to my belly. She then grabbed me by the ear and showed me the big stain down my window, and smiling told me how I was not allowed to have breakfast in my room anymore. I don't think she spanked me that time, but I was not allowed out of the house -except for school and back- or to watch TV or have any other privileges for some weeks.
I didn't know any better. I thought they were just conspiring against me to make me feel miserable about drinking something I completely despised. And although I feel terribly guilty about it since now I understand everything my grandma had to go through to make sure I had a healthy breakfast every day, now that I am allowed to make my own decisions... I don't ever have breakfast.
Are you a good dancer or do you have two left feet? What's your signature dance move?
I like to think I'm a pretty decent dancer. But I'll let you decide!
I don't have a signature move of my own, but Ricky and I have a couple when we dance together. Maybe I'll post another video with those!
What makes your best friend so special?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... what makes Yuni so special? Well look at the picture.
Yuni is easily one of the most amazing persons I've ever had the fortune to meet. She genuinely cares for others. She will stop and talk to strangers if they look sad. She will give the money she doesn't have to make others happy. Going the extra mile is always "the least she could do". Always has a smile on her face and looks to the bright side of things. She knows when to tell you that you look beautiful even if you just rolled out of bed and stink, and when to tell you that those pants just look horrible on you. She remembers everything; birthdays, anniversaries, special moments, jokes, and even that your sister's husband's cousin's dog was sick (and she'll remember to ask how he's doing until he gets better). She was the only one who would stop and talk to the janitors on her way home from work -no matter how much in a hurry she was- to find out how their day was going... not that there's anything wrong with being a janitor but they're always the least noticed people in a school. She cries with you, laughs with you, farts with you when needed. She's fun, smart, and has a wonderful sense of humor. And she has an awesome kid!
And best of all, she's always there, no matter what. I thank-whoever needs thanking here- for putting her in my life. :)
Did you see the Harry Potter movie this weekend? Are you going to read the new book?
I had a Potterized week last week... to the point where I was almost sick of Harry Potter. Almost.
I saw it opening night, of course. Tuesday night's midnight show. That's where the real fun is. Everybody claps, woos, yells, and you know that everybody is absorbing and appreciating the movie as much as you are. There's something quite special about seeing the movie with fellow fans that you don't even know.
Then, on Thursday afternoon, I went to see it again with my best friend. She couldn't come to the midnight show with me on Tuesday -something about having to work the next day. Apparently, not everybody is able to function normally with only 4 hours of sleep the night before. But anyway, I was the one who get her into reading the books, so I felt it my duty to accompany her to watch this one. Funny story, in one of the most important parts of the movie, the screen just went blank and the lights came on. Ten minutes later, the movie resumed, but they had skipped a good minute or so of it, which would've been quite crucial for those who haven't read the books, but not for my friend, who knew what happened. This is why you read the books, people.
And then there's Yenlys. She introduced me to the world of Harry Potter back in 2001. After High School, she went away to college and we lost touch. Just a week ago I found her on Facebook, we exchanged numbers, and agreed to go see the movie together. What do you know, she could only go on Friday. I couldn't say no! This time I took my 9-year-old cousin and dressed her up as Hermione (she looked so cute!). So that was my THIRD time watching the same movie in less than a week.
Funny though, right before I left for the movies on Friday, my cousin calls me. It went kind of like this:
Cousin: "Hey! What are you up to?"
Me: "Not much, just waiting for my friend to go see Harry Potter."
Cousin: "Oh! I was calling to see if you wanted to go watch it with me tomorrow."
Me: "No! NO!!! I'M NOT WATCHING IT FOUR TIMES IN A ROW!!!"
Cousin: "..."
Me: "Sorry. See, what happens is..." (and I told her the whole thing. We ended up meeting at the movie theatre that night.)
The movie was simply spectacular. I'll come back soon with a full personal review. And, are you kidding? Of course I'm reading the next book! My best friend and I are making this Saturday, a Harry Potter day. We're setting up snacks and food for the whole day, and as soon as the books arrive on the mail, we're going to sit *on my new furniture* to read until we finish... or until her boyfriend calls her and tells her to get her ass home. lol
What's the oldest thing in your fridge?
Man, and I just threw out two little things of Yogurt whose expiration date read "November 4, 2006". I had no idea they were in there!
If you could eat only 3 foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?

1. Pollo Tropical's 1/4 dark chicken value meal with rice and beans.
2. Boston Market's 1/4 dark chicken with mashed potatoes (gravy on the side!) and mac & cheese. (See the chicken pattern here?)
3. Flan.
What are five things you take for granted?
Submitted by meowkitty.
Just two: my parents and my sense of vision. I don't treat my eyes as carefully as I should: I don't take my contacts off as often as they need to be taken off. And my parents, my lovely parents, sometimes I think I take them for granted. I love them dearly, and I tell them I do as often as I can, but I don't spend as much time with them as I probably should.
Have you ever tracked down any of your old high school friends and fellow students?

Yep, and that's how I ended up with a MySpace account.
